The racing-Portishead 5th/6th May
The 2018 Shanghai Bristol Channel cup races will be held in Portishead on 5th and 6th of May racing starting at 1030 hrs.
OOD Saturday Simon Britten ;Sunday Nick Duppa Miller. We have the use of a comfortable fast motor boat to lay the start and other marks.
Hopefully 6 races will be achieved over the two days
High water is at 11.00 and 1130 am for the two days.
There will be an informal feeder race for a bottle of whiskey back to Cardiff on Sunday 6th- PCC yachts may wish to join and race with the returning Cardiff fleet in Preparation for the second Shanghai weekend on 19th/20 May in Cardiff. This feeder race can be run by individual yachts at any time in the intervening two weeks if they hand in their times to Ben Sherwood Sailing sec of CBYC
On the intervening weekend there is an Open Offshore race from Cardiff which is also a qualifier for the 2019 Fastnet!.
Friday 4th The Cardiff and Swansea boats will be meeting for a pre-race drink at the Royal in Portishead on Friday 4th . They very much enjoy their trips to Portishead and look forward to meeting the local Portishead teams. The visitors will have been there from about 5.00pm
Saturday Returning from racing on Saturday must be completed by the 1430 lock. A relaxed afternoon before meeting for dinner at the Hall and Woodhouse pub . The upstairs has been reserved for 8.00 pm and there will be a limited choice on the menu to allow some flexibility in numbers. Partners and family welcome.
Cardiff weekend 19th/20th May
Racing in the morning will be in the Bristol Channel followed by lunch at CBYC and further racing in the Bay.
There will be mooring available at CBYC.
There will be tea, drinks and supper at the Cardiff Bay Yacht Club on Saturday and a prize giving on the Sunday.
PCC yachts returning later in evening if weather permits.
