This is November yet 12 PCC boats visited Lydney YC at the weekend with around 40 people and there were also 10 boats participating in Winter 2 on Sunday.
It was a wet start from Portishead with little wind and en route Fred’s boat Jacinta was taken on tow by Misty Lady after the engine stopped. Geoff McBroom transferred onto Jacinta to help with the entry to Lydney harbour which went very smoothly arriving just before mid day. The rain stopped and once settled in, Julian helped Fred diagnose the problem, a collapsed flexible fuel pipe and the engine started.
Cream teas were taken in the club house at 3:30 and the bar opened just after 6 with real ales and local ciders brought in for the occasion. Soup followed by Chilli and baked potato with salad was consumed and then the home grown entertainment took over with various party pieces being performed.
Sunday dawned with clear skies and calm seas and we chatted in the sunshine till it was time to leave. It was the usual race back to Portishead under motor to get into the last 2 locks on the ebbing tide. The first of these was full of fishing boats but the marina squeezed in an extra lock and got us all back in. Superb weekend. Many thanks to LYC.
Though’s attending were: Mersey Beat, Tickety Boo, Sophie B, Best Endeavour, Sabrina, Appaloosa, Isis Tres, Taranto, Sans Just, Jacinta, Misty Lady, Zephyrus.
